Go to the Maryland Banjo Academy (April) or Banjo Camp North (May). At either of these events you can hear the banjo played in various styles, sit in on classes in the styles you like, and be mentored by more experienced players who can help you. You can also brouse oodles of tapes, intruction books, videos and such to help keep you moving long after the event. I have been to several of these events and they always help me, give them a try.
