Addition to my message: Instead of the numbers you may use the names of the notes c-b, but using the numbers makes transpositions easier. You have only to define: D major,and you kow: 1=g, 3=f+, 7=c+. This useful system is from programming the sound resources of HyperCard with slight changes.
