Why is it that in most old songs and ballads the names of the males are 'Willie' or 'Johnny'. Why not have lines like ... 'Nigel, lovely Nigel'. or 'Colin O'Winsbury'? Any ideas for a variation of song lines or titles? Even the female names could do with a modern touch... 'Britney go round the roses' or 'Nicola and Wilfred sat reposing,, as opposed to 'Molly and Johnny sat reposing, Under a bank of blooming roses, etc etc..'
