Just caught up with this thread -Melanie heard me sing it at St Andrews Folk Club. She and Ollie stayed with us and we swapped CDs (or it might have been vinyl in them there days!) . I sing "gun" but she heard it as "burn" and Anne Marie Middleton learned the song from her. I'm working on my diction. I first heard it at Girvan Folk Fesival in the earl 1980s and recorded it in 1985. Sitll reduces audiences to tears!
