Dik Van Dykes appalling Cockney accent in Mary Poppins will never be surpassed but in Frasier, Daphne's yobbo brothers Manchester accent must be in the running. His accent seems more East of London, say Essex, which is some 300 miles (not far in the colonies, like Canada,Oz,or US) away from Manchester, but a hell of a way in this small island. And another thing,Daphne's accent is somewhat questionable. It falls down when she say words like to or few which clearly show she bases her accent on the West Yorkshire version of English not Lancashire. However as Ms Leeves originates from down south say Sussex, she can be forgiven.
On the other hand I applaud Rene Zellwegers accent in Bridget Jones,or Meryl Streeps English accent in French Lieutenants Woman, both were "spot-on".
Well I'm glad I got that off my chest
