Good threads 53, Yes, I've played all the 'big 4' electrics. That wasn't your question, but I want to qualify my answer. If I had only one electric guitar to choose from it would be a strat with a H/B in the bridge pos. with a 'stacked H/B' in the neck pos. with a single-coil in the middle. Both H/Bs would be switchable(i.e., should be able to cut one of the coils for single coil sound) and a 'Floyd Rose' tremelo. I know, I know alot of guys don't like the 'Rose', but I find it easier to maintain pitch. IMH the strat is the most versatile of the mainstays. Though a case can be made for the LP, it's weight over a period of time takes it's toll.
