Oh dear, Oh dear, Oh dear, and there I was growing up in a good Christian household with no cards! So much so that when I tried to construct a trick out of a box of conjuring tricks, and reached the instruction "cut the deck", I used scissors! (I know better now). By which I intend to convey that it seems to me that cards are cards, and religion is religion, and putting texts on cards doesn't sanctify them., if you have doubts about their appropriateness. I was curious about that song going back to the 17th century, because it would tie in with the 12 Days of Christmas being a mnemonic, too, which I didn't find convincing. Bearing in mind the nature of the English armies at that time, it couldn't have been someone sending up the New Model Army, could it?
