GUEST,frogmore Lyr Req: It's a shame to whup your wife on Sunday (6) RE: Lyr Req: It's a shame to whup your wife on Sunday 29 May 02

In the early sixties I learned "Ain't it a shame to go fishin' on a Sunday" from a Leadbelly record. Library of Congress recording I think. Other verses were "take a drink", "beat your wife", can't recall others. If I sing it now, when I come to the wife verse, I do the 2nd line with "husband", and the 3rd line with "spouse." I've got troubles enough without hunting up new people to offend when I'm having fun playing. Obviously, new homemade verses for this song are endless.
