Wavestar,

Castles & History: The Iron Ring (of castles) in North Wales; Conwy, Beaumaris Caernarfon, Harlech, etc. More castles per sq. km. than any place else on earth in Wales.

Mountain scenery and legend: Snowdonia, Bettws y Coed, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Beddgelert.

Ocean views: Aberyswyth (also has the National Library of Wales), Gower Peninsula

Bookstores: Hay-on-Wye

Industrial History: Iron and Steel, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhymney, Tredegar, Ebbw Vale, Blaenavon (also has the Big Pit Museum). All within about 20 miles (35 km) along the Head of the Valleys highway. Coal: the Rhondda Valley (and also the Big Pit mentioned above.)

And on, and on, and on.
