In the thread about persons we would like to have seen in concert, our friend Katlaughing mentioned her grandfather and his father. However, as I undrestand it, her father carried on the traditions and she has heard them through him. Now Kat is picking up the torch adding her own flavor to the mix, and that is as it should be and as it has always been.

Nevertheless, in these days of video tape and digital recordings, the possibilities of saving the stylings of some of these wonderful individuals are without limits. Although Kat cannot hear her grandfather and her great grandfather, her great grand children (or anyone else living in that distant time) can hear her and her father.

This appliies also to the non-musical aspects of our lives. I would encourage anyone and everyone to do as I have done and sit the elder members of your family down in front of a video camera for a couple hours of just talking about their lives. I did this with my parents and not only created something for future generations, but learned all kinds of wonderful things about them in the process.
