The Quakers are definitely alive and well. Spiceland, Indiana once housed a Quaker Acadamy, which has a yearly reunion. The acadamy no longer exists, but the Friends Church is an active part of the community. The Quaker worship service today is pretty much like your typical protestant worship service, with a tendency to have a few more "quiet moments" such as before prayer.
There are definitely more than 10 Quakers left.
Now the Shakers...... There is a small sect remaining which refers to themselves as Shakers - not Quakers. Saw them last year at Penrod Festival in Indianapolis where they did a worshipful dance to "Simple Gifts."
