Irish sergeant Lyr Req: Mary Had a Little Lamb (parody) (54* d) RE: mary had a lamb, parody: lyrics urgently needed 03 Jul 02

The original parody was Civil War era and was both a parody of Battle Cry of Freedom and Mary Had a Little Lamb

Mary had a little lamb.
Its fleece was white as snow,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom!
And every where that Mary went the lamb was sure to go,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom!

Chorus: Hurrah for Mary! Hurrah for the lamb!
Hurrah for the soldier who don't give a damn!
As we rally round the flag boys, rally once again,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom!

An additional verse was invented in World War Two:

Mary had a little lamb. Its fleece was black as mud,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom!
Every one but Mary know the lamb had the galloping crud,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom!

Kindest regards, Irish Sergeant
