Hi, I'm going to echo much of what Rick has said. Toronto has been lucky that the TRANZAC developed into a folk community centre (as well as other things).

Fiddler's Green folk club moved in there years ago along with one of the Comhaltas groups. This also brought there Green Fiddle Morris and more. When Fiddler's Green closed the Flying Cloud sailed in. Thus various aspects of the folk community happen to use one centre and lo and behold there is cross-fertilisation. Thus you have 2 Morris groups practicing on a Monday, followed last week by an impromtu jam after with people dropping in after Rick's show, which included Jeff Burke who may be the only Morris dancing bassoon player. Club Django on the Tuesday's, another Morris group on the Wednesday, with a Comhaltas sesion as well. Occassional song circle on the last thursday's of the month and the Cloud on the Sunday. Oh, and people using it as a local during the week.

As I stated, there has been much cross-fertilisation across the groups and it provided my intro to Toronto. I started out with the Morris and now am involved with the Cloud, the TRANZAC itself and know alot of the people in all the groups - makes it hard to want to leave Toronto.

Anyway, this is my first note to Mudcat - a bit self indulgent, but it does describe a great community. Maybe Rick may post his article on the TRANZAC here (BTW - what is the score in your on going pool match with Moses?)
