You don't have to be rich to do the festivals! If you want tickets it seems fairly easy (from where I'm sitting) to get yerself a job doing the stewarding and "earn" yourself a free ticket. Have a look at the Froots Festival Guide website and ring the organisers. Alternatively, why not choose your festivals and just do the fringe side of things. If you can get up to Scotland in October (10th ish) then try and make Innerleithen Both Sides of the Tweed Festival. Last year it was a brilliant weekend and only cost three packets of chips, two bacon butties and a few beers. If you really are shy then I recommend you yourselves a border collie dog and wear a cowboy hat; you'll find that no one can resist commenting on either the hat or the dog. Once they comment on the dog/hat, you can amaze them with your wit/repartee/whistleplaying/bodhraning and you never be lonely again! It works for me!
