The people seem so warm and friendly. As soon as I have observed some more, I may try to participate in some of the discussions. Kat, just one comment related to something I saw yesterday. You mentioned the reluctance of symphony orchestra conductors to program new works. I spent a major portion of my career managing symphony orchestras, and you are absolutely right. I can assure you, though, that it is usuallly not the fault of the music directors. I think they would like to program more modern music, but the public is very slow to accept new classical music, and it's box office that helps to make the "wheels go round" with any symphony organization.
