Think of it this way... The vowels are the "clothesline and the consonants are the clothes pegs". Composers who have the singer in mind always make good use of vowels. The voice tends to sing on the vowels and there are proper tongue placements for each vowel sound. Once these are learned and practiced than singing becomes a joy for the singer and the listener.
