As do I, Little Hawk!

While not a life-long Springsteen fan, I had the opportunity to meet him a few years back when I arranged for a group of farmworkers to have backstage passes for his Tampa concet. That's when I learned of RMAS (rec.music.artists.springsteen). When I checked it out, it turned out to be a very diverse group, a number of whom are also folkies who referred me to the Grateful Dead connection to "I Bid You Goodnight." But that's another thread.

The connection to THIS thread is that I was really confused by lots of RMAS postings that began with "NBC," and had nothing to do with radio or TV programming. I finally got up the nerve to post the question (not having read the FAQ, of course!) and a few very patient members responded that it meant "No Bruce Content." They also use "LBC" when posts contain Little Bruce Content.

I haven't the time or inclination to study the matter, but is it possible that most newsgroups dedicated to a specific subject or person have their own "BS"/"NBC" flags to alert members to off-topic postings? It seems to me that just having the BS prefix permits members the option of looking at those thread titles and deciding whether or not to read them. If members are determined that they do not want to read the flagged postings, and filter them out without even scanning them, then so be it. They choose to lose topics not related to music, however valuable they might be. M.
