Uncle Jaque Last Shanty Swap at China Sea-11/23 (Maine) (104* d) RE: Last Shanty Swap at China Sea-11/23 (Maine) 28 Nov 02

By the way, on the way out the door we picked up one of Roll & Go's "Outward Bound" CD's, and have been playing the paint off of and bellowing myself hoarse along with it ever since.

I would encourage anyone who has not done so yet to do the same; when I really get to missing our times together up at the Observatory or downtown at China Seas, playing this album is nearly the next best thing to being there!
I understand that the sales of this album go towards a very worthy cause, as well...

And many hearty, heartfelt thanks to Cpt. Charlie and the Roll & Go Crew for organizing, promoting, and coordinating these wonderful shenanigans, as well as to Cpt.Steve Bunker and 1st Mate Sharon for graciously hosting us at China Seas! 3 lusty cheers and a broadside salute to ye all, Mates!

We understand that The China Seas Crew will start packing up and moving out around December 28. Steve has rented a truck, and some of us in the Reenacting / Living History Community, as well as Members of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War & Auxilary may be helping out as much as we can in order to save them the expense of hiring a moving crew. I would not be surprised if any of the Portland area Folkie/Sea-Chanty family were to show up in comfey jeans and bring muscles, that all hands could be used on deck! Packing up, as well as moving all of that wonderful nautical "stuff" into storage in Gray is going to be a time and labor intensive operation; the more hands on the windlass, the faster the anchor will be home!

Potential Volunteers might contact Steve and/or Sharon for details as to specifically when and where, and what if anything (boxes, tape, etc. I suppose) might be useful.

I would not be the least bit surprised if Charlie N. comes up with a "Moving Chantey" just for the occasion, creative soul that 'e is.

And one last round of "Leave Her Johnny" might be appropriate just before the last lantern is extinguished and main hatchway secured... what d'ye think, Mates?
