Here's another Lena Willemark & Ale Möller song (guess who's been digging up old tapes :) There is one line I don't really understand (the one I marked with a question mark) - if anyone could help there, that would be nice!

Nathali

SAINT GEORGE AND THE DRAGON

Hear now, Saint George, my servant,
Will you ride in an errand
To Babylon, the old town, you shall have to fight the dragon.

The city is built long and broad,
Yes, it is walled round with stones.
Outside lies that dragon so ugly, and the city is tired of it.

The cityfolk had received advice from the king
To give a sacrifice every day,
The dragon might be persuaded to have mercy, and we might live longer.

The dice were cast, over and over,
And the lot fell on the king's daughter.
He had men, silver and gold, and had to pay his daughter (?)

"King, be true to what you have said,
We still have it on our minds (?),
Or we will get into the castle, and break away sticks and stones."

The maiden went to that unknown field,
Where the old forests lie,
There she saw strong Saint George, his steed jumped into the fight.

No bird could fly so swiftly,
And quickly he drew his sword,
He struck the steel into the beast's neck, and the dragon fell to pieces.
