Another great night at the Friendly Earth Acoustic Club, thanks to all those who turned up.

The evening began with MD (Martin Dent), the MC, giving us a nice quartet of songs. Unfortunately Martin's co-worker Rob Harrington wasn't able to show up as he has been having some girlfriend trouble, which gave us more time for floor spots. Special thanks to Mudcatter, Leadfingers for coming all the way over to us and delighting us with his Banjola and entertaining songs. The first of the evenings main guests was Piers Hobson and I had a wonderful time because it was such a wonderful audience.

The other main guest was the super dooper contemporary country music trio Newport West (Cathy, Trevor and new member Russell). They formed in late 2001 for the Newport Pagnell Riverside Festival and did some contemporary country, and they really looked the part, and some of their own top quality songs. Anybody has who has seen them will know how excellent they are. They have a demo CD, and they gave me a copy as a birthday present - what nice people, and are soon to have one for their other band Pagan's Chalice, who appeared at the first Friendly Earth Acoustic Club.

The evening ended when the landlady made a gesture which indicated some form of decapitation so we thought we ought to stop. Thanks again to all those who came along.

I'm afraid it wasn't all fun and games, MD hit us with the news that the Flat Martins have ceased to exist as a duo, best of luck to both MD and Martin Hodges for the future.

The next Friendly Earth Acoustic Club will take place on Weds January 22nd where the main guests will be Martin Dent, singer-songwriter and Janet Strapp who hammers dulcimers with an immense quality. We have a real treat on Febuary 19th with Banoffi from Whitby and on March 19th we have the prodigious talent of Bizzarity.
