I think I would have gone straight to British Isles folk, and skipped the Russian music along the way. Don't get me wrong...I *loved* it when I did it, but it there isn't much call for it, and it's not my heritage. I connect better with the music of my own ancestry. But most of all, I would have liked to have used those years to better hone what it is I find myself doing now.
