Sure wish I could be part of this nice thread, but I am more of a "pop" than "folk" music person, or, to give it a folk flavor, "pop goes the weasel." I will enter to the extent of saying I visit here almost every day, and sometimes several times a day, because now and then an interesting pop song is discussed, or some fascinating bit of lore is recounted. And there are folk songs that now and then interest me as well. (The Londonderry Air is one of the finest melodies ever created, and often the lyrics of folk songs are so good that I can forgive a trite tune.)
I come to music as a composer in love with melodic genius and great songwriting (I was orginally inspired by hearing in my twenties the MERRY WIDOW melodies). [OUT OF ROOM]
