It does, however, make the lives of those needing general asylum better. As to the world problems, birth control will solve a lot, if it is made available and acceptable. We may not be able to convince many people that it's a good thing, but we can easily provide the materials and services needed. Unfortunately, voluntary birth control can only do so much. If you start persuading people that they shouldn't have too many kids, while multiple children is still a viable reproductive option, you start selecting for people who cannot be convinced that they shouldn't have as many children as possible. That just makes the problem worse down the road. Even worse, the only other solution is forced birth control, which is morally abhorrent in the extreme.
