Just like in Afghanistan, where the removal of the Taliban allowed warlords to expand their control, it is quite possible that warlords will take over following U.S. withdrawal from Iraq, should such an event actually occur. Iraq's army was pretty much a paper tiger, given how easily and one-sidedly we defeated them; I think casualty figures put the ratio somewhere around 25 to 1. I don't understand why you think this puts us in a better position to work towards peace in Israel and Palestine; instead of looking like impartial diplomats, we'll look like empire-builders.
