Hi Mary --

My dad was an Army band sergeant in World War I. His band was with Pershing in Paris at the end of the war.

Since today is the 117th anniversary of my dad's birth, I offer one of his favorites for your list:


General Pershing March

Here is a link to a great site for WWI music. You can listen to samples. Pershing's march is in the 10th grouping.

World War I music

We had scads of these old 78s. Daddy would get a bit tipsy, no, actually, he'd get soused, put records on our old Victrola and direct the band. Happy Birthday, T.P.
