Night Comes Round
The NightJars
A wonderful CD.

Packed with great tradition and the cutting edge of tradition now forming.

It is wonderful to see new works being created with elegant folk style which is founded upon great musical skills.

the Night Jars are:

Tom Jawbone- Fantastic vocalist with a voice that is hard to believe. Very folky yet able to change to fit the tune. From gravely and down and out to sweet and elegant. A true wonder. Tom plays many many instruments and does it all well. His compositions are truly amazing.

Nattie Carroll-plays accordian,washboard etc...
Darren Todd- Mandola, tenor guitar, resonator guitar...dumbeck..

Elaina Herndon- cello,vocals

Other performers-
Morgan Rael
Ted Porter-Fantastic on Mandolin, banjo mandolin, slinky, hole punc, crumhorn, mejodica, and vocals
Jon Gutters- Bass
Robbie Baleer- guitar
Adam Michael Rothberg- fiddle...banjo..harp

Pj Porter- little pot

Lots of diversity. Tracks-
Sugarboy-a grand exotic love song with radar and sonar great vocals.
Pilgrim at the Wedding- Great drinking and talking song fantastic
The Bawjone Credo- A children's song great for adults too a wonderful piece. I am still singing it.
Fiddler A Dram- Ted Porter makes this trad classic come alive. A gift.
Bedlam- Another song of the folk with texture and feeling.
Babylon--Great song :"I will not seek the road to Babylon,I fear to tread its gold paved ways, If you draw near its sirens call you, with promises of much better days....prophetic and filled with imagery.
The sweet Street Sweepers Wife- "Shes pleasant and shes fragrant, as she steps out of her bath, she does a little gambling, she knows a little math"- Priceless lyrics.

Blues Turns Red- Another great song filled with spirit and a moving blues piece. " Yo're sugar in my gas-tank, lemon on my sore, you give me less than zero, now how can I ask for More?" Wow...

Wishing well- A wonderful sweet piece demonstrating the adaptability of Jawbone's vocal style.

True value for the money. I recommend it highly. Everyone will find wonder here and joy to see the folk tradition alive and well and expanding. From the heart and with great humour and drama.
