Mark, I like that bit about the porch light - what a simple but elegant way of saying "Come and visit." I'm going to have to borrow that. It's happened more than once before that I've quoted something I read at Mudcat, and when I went back to see who said it, it was you.

Just want to clarify about the organic farming: I intend to get a WWOOF directory of farms that'll house and feed you for short times in exchange for labour. But it's not a paying proposition; I just anticipate that I'll want to take a break from the road for a week or so now and then. And it's a minor thing; this will basically be a busking tour. So nobody should go out of their way to find me a farming job. Thanks for the suggestions anyway!
