GUEST,cristoir@rochester.rr.com Singers' Sessions Assistance Please (2) Singers' Sessions Assistance Please 09 Jun 03

Mudcat-ers,

First, allow me to introduce myself. I am the founder and host of the
Rochester (N.Y.) Singers' Session, affiliated with the Tom Finucane
Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann. For those who want to drop in, we meet the third Sunday of each month at Johnny's Irish Pub, 1382 Culver Road (near Merchants) in Rochester. We get underway at 5:00 p.m. "Irish time."

Second -- and the real reason for writing -- is I am trying to
compile a "Traditonal Singing" web page. When complete I hope to have
useful information for those new to the genre -- what it is, who are the classic proponents (Paddy Tunney, Joe Heaney, Len Graham, Sarah Makem, et. al.), festivals etc.

What I would like people's assistance with is compiling a list of
Irish Singers' Sessions. It doesn't matter where the session is located, although I would like to concentrate on sessions primarily in the US and reland (although if you are in Britain, Japan, etc. I would still like to hear from you).

If you want to send your contribution on- or off-list that is fine. What I would like in reply is answers to the following questions:

Name of Session
Name and Address of meeting site -- for example "Johnny's Irish Pub,
1382 Culver Road, Rochester, New York 14609"
Contact Name
Phone #
Email Address (if there is one)
Web site for the session (if there is one)

When the session meets (date and time -- for example, 3rd Sunday of the month at 5:00 p.m.) and fee (our session has none, although I know some do charge so they can afford to bring in guest singers occasionally). If you want to pass on any comments you think people ought to know about the session (for example, "No guitars, please"), I'd appreciate hearing that as well. I will pass on the URL to the page when complete so people can check for accuracy.

BTW, the "No guitars" comment is not a rule at our session, although I
did see it on another sessions web page. Thanks for your help and hope
to hear from you soon.
