Looking through the notes with the cd I think it may be a different version from the one Jon's remembering as this one is listed as being written by Tommy Armstrong but sung by Louis Killen and was originally released on an EP called "Northumbrian Garland". It also notes that the tune differs from the air noted in 1951 and the song was originally sung to another tune altogether that of "The Cottage by the Sea". Don't know if any of this helps
