I agree that "best" lists are silly, really, and we can all name lots of star acts, but the one singer who makes me just close my eyes and rejoice in the voice is Maggie Boyle. The man who made unaccompanied solo traditional singing work for me was Roy Harris. And if no-one else is going to mention Jane and Amanda Threlfall among the newer acts, then I will.
