My Mum told me this one that happened to her. Back in the fifties, she had just started a new job as a teacher in an old school. At the top of the building was a room known as the apple-loft where they used to store books. On her first day, the Headmistress told Mum that the apple loft was haunted. This Headmistress was a bit of a batty old lady, so Mum took it with a pinch of salt. But when she had to go and get some books from the apple loft, she felt a very menacing presence which quite scared her. So she said out loud 'Go away, we don't want you here!' She didn't tell anyone about the experience, as she wondered if she had imagined it. About a year later, Mum and the Headmistress were showing some visitors round the school. One of them asked 'Do you still have the ghost in the apple loft?'. The Headmistress replied 'No, that's a very strange thing. No-one has seen or felt it since Pat (my Mum) started work here'. Did my Mum have the power of exorcism, or was it all in the mind?
