I think you said you're retiring later this year Joe, if that means even more time for the Mudcat, we wish you a long and productive retirement! Do I detect an interest in quirky buildings or just lighthouses? If the former you might be interested in the UK Landmark Trust (the URL I have for them doesn't seeme to work at present but I'll investigate!) which preserves small interesting and threatened buildings and lets them out for holidays. We've stayed in a castle gatehouse, a fomer prison, a water tower, a chicken keeper's cottage, a hunting lodge and a Victorian fort cut off at high tide!
