I first saw Chris T and the Watkins kids around 1990. They were very young - like 10-12, but they were playing up a storm at open mikes and other gigs in San Diego, many organized by the North County San Diego Bluegrass and Folk Club. I think Chris' Dad played the bass then. They were very good from the start.
I would like to see them play more like Allison Krause or Laurie Lewis. But they definitely have found a niche for what they do. More power to them.
