The son of Hoyt Axton was arrested in Tahoe City for trying to kidnap a nine year old girl. He is being held in jail on $200,000 bail.

Michael Axton, age 39 allegedly tried to abduct the girl on July 29 while she was on a family outing on the Truckee River. Deputies say that the girl screamed and ran back to her family.

Axton's father wrote "Joy to the World." Axton's mother, Mae Axton, wrote "Heartbreak Hotel."
