WHen you have two disks, and the new one is now the primary one, then you may need to set a "jumper" on the secondary disk, before it's visible to the OS (operating system). Have alook at the disk, sometimes there may be an illustration of the jumpers and how to set them.

Basically the jumper is a tiny sort of sleeve/connector that can be set across a number of miniature poles/prongs. Depending where the jumper is set, will goevrn the disk to behave in different ways.

I did this quite recently to pull old data off a previous HD.

If there is no illo on the disk, have alook on the web, for that model (use Google), and see if you can get info about it.
