Arnie, can't help much with your AOL problem, but you certainly don;t have to use AOL's browswer once you're connected. I tried the free trial of AOL this past winter when we were traveling, since my cable ISP didn't have any provision for dialup. I hated the interface so much that I started minimizing the window as soon as it appeared and loading my own browser.
