since Greg is no longer commenting, I can't ask him how long without electric power it would be before he considered it serious. I'm sure traffic cops and gas station owners and elderly folk in high buildings in summer heat and water pumping station managers and hospitals with limited generator power thought 8-24 hours was quite enough. During winter ice storms, there have been longer periods, but seldom so widespread.
