Thread Name: BS: Prettiest villages in England
Subject: RE: BS: Prettiest villages in England
In 2001 I spent a blissful November week in Frampton on Severn, which boasts the longest village green in England (with a pub at each end!). The folk club meets in the village hall on Tuesdays. Lovely folk. In the Severn Vale, 20-ish miles south of Gloucester.

It's rural and unpretentious (hardly at all twee but suitably picturesque), next to a canal for strolling next to, and a couple of miles from a large waterfowl sanctuary. Despite all this, it manages to be very near an exchange on the M5, which was critical for us as my husband is not good at negotiating the minor roads.

Not many services, but the self-catering we let was within crawling distance of one of the pubs and right next to the post office/shop, so we were all set.

Thanks for giving me the chance to remember that lovely, idyllic week.
