Thread Name: Req: Singing Dandelions, Daisies and Daffodils
Subject: campaign for better thread titles
I used to have whippets! I don't know the song you seek, alas, but I'm responding, in an individual capacity, to your notice on Mudcat to ask you to start a new thread with a more specific title.

Most users of the service dislike cumbersome threads with general titles such as "looking for lyrics" . Threads with overly-general titles tend to attract a series of requests for many different songs and then the replies to the various queries get all jumbled up. It is better to start a separate thread for each request for a particular song or genre of song (we get requests such as "songs about WW1", "songs for a second wedding", etc as well as requests for specific songs).

The title of the thread should give the title of the song you seek or some other good clue to what you're looking for. This both helps guide people to look at the thread in the first place and to be able to locate it by filter or by 'forum search' when it is no longer on screen. Threads are archived for about 2 years.

It's also good "threadiquette" to try searching the Digital Tradition database (search box in your right hand corner of the screen) and also, if you have time, to do a forum search before you start a new thread. It may be that your request has already been answered elsewhere on Mudcat. But if you can't find what you're looking for, we'll all be glad to help you.
