Caroline Herring's a new country singer/songwriter with folk and blue grass influences. She has a pleasant soft style with intelligent lyrics. She has two albums out - the second just came out this week. I'm including links (hope they work) to her website and to sites that will enable you to listen to song clips. She's one of those singers that I had to hear just once to get forever hooked. My favorite songs of hers are Wise Woman and Whippoorwill.
