Thread Name: BS: Is anyone in fire danger?
Subject: RE: BS: Is anyone in fire danger?
i hope those elk (in the picture)came thru that blaze safe.
one of the saddest sights i have seen during a fire
is an elk carcass that washed up on a beach.
it had apparently lept into the ocean to escape an
approaching fire.
there is a scene in a book i read recently ("smoke jumper" by
the author of "horse whisperer" Nicholas Evans)of a fellow,
a smoke jumper, who took a picture of an elk whose horns
were aflame. i sometimes wonder if that scene was
inspired by the elk-in-the-river-photo.
one of the largest groups of coyotes i have heard
was during a time when i was doing structure protection
in Nevada during a fire that was approaching from
California. The critters may have been pushed out
of their territory by the flames. they were all
around us. condolances to Helga for her double losses.
i wish her the strength to re-gain her foot hold
after all that!
