Hi. Just a quick note of appreciation to everyone who came along to support us at Nantwich Folk & Roots Festival on Saturday 23rd.
We had a wonderful afternoon at the White Horse and the encouraging comments we received were much appreciated.
Also appreciated were those who took part in the 'open mike' part of the proceedings; the wonderful Mark Bailey, The Trent Vale Poet, and Richard 'Rudy Tunes' Faulkner. Richard arrived clutching a Guitar-Banjo (or was it a Banjo-Guitar?) which he played to great effect and also unselfishly lent to Captain Norbury for use in our own unique version of 'Uncle Joe's Mintballs'. Thanks also to the redoubtable Colin Stanton from the Fylde Folk Festival, Sheena Rowley (who won me over so completely that I bought a CD from her) and last but not least Colin Matthews, editor of 'Folk Orbit', who did some amazing stuff including what, for me, has to be the definitive version of 'Over The Hills And Far Away'.
Captain Norbury informed me that Colin also appeared at the Middlewich F&B monthly session at the Boar's Head earlier this year. Just shows you what delights are to be had for nothing if you look hard enough.
Finally, thanks to the Manager of the White Horse and to Fluff and Dave Hogg of the Folk & Roots Festival for having faith in us.
