Probably what you are hearing that is "more", is embellishments....extra notes such as hammerons, pulloffs, etc...

For instance, steal a bit of time from one of the longer notes, and "hammer-on" from the fret below it -- example: pick the open second string (A string) and hammer-on to the second fret....
