Oh dear, it did cross my mind that someone might take offence !

I think I made a fair comment about our PERCEPTION of the USA. I come from a tough part of the Uk and I am sure that it is a lot more dangerous there than in most of the USA. And believe me, I wouldn't wish it on anyone, because people (especially mudcatters ! ) shouldn't have to live in fear. My fellow city dwellers do. That's sad.

Now, I would say that it is a fact that most people would consider safety before visting the USA. Maybe we watch too much television , maybe we read too much dramatic journalism, or whatever... but I am pretty sure it is a consideration for most people. For example, lots of Europeans have heard that New York is now much safer ( as far as street crime is concerned ) and that would encourage them to go there on holiday. I am sure you can see that point of view ? Well, please don't get upset when someone expresses the opposite.
