some of the high lights from this fall's line-up: Tracy Grammer, Avalon Blues which is a group of 3 musicians who all have strong solo careers, who joined in to put together a special set of Mississippi John Hurt's music: Dave Alvin, Chris Smither, Peter Case. Alison Krauss and Union Station,Natalie McMaster, Laurie Lewis, and many others including Fruit from OZ. There is an on-site radio station which allows you to hear the performers even if you are not where they are on stage.
and Great Big Sea (or big blue sea?) who i believe are Irish, were there, but they did not allow the radio to broadcast them. I know some peolple who are boycotting their cd's due to this . OFten a band (or more likely their agent, probably, or record label) will not allow their music to go out over the radio. the pirate station has less than a one mile radius, and it is wonder ful to hear so much good music. since there are several stages going on simultaneously, it is not possible to hear all the acts unless you catch them on the radio. too bad they did not want to participate in this way.
