Aw, you non-Americans! I swear! You just don't get it, do you? It's the job of the U.S. to make the rules. It's your job to play by them. We don't have to play by 'em 'cause we made 'em!   

It's the way it's been for years. And if you don't believe me, just ask the descendants of the people that were here when our ancestors arrived. We made the rules. They agreed to play by the rules. But we never agreed to play by the rules! So, we killed most of 'em, imprisoned the rest, and took their land away.
