Sad news I'm afraid - I was told by a mutual friend that he has died and the funeral is this morning. For some of us it will be the end of an era. No further details I'm afraid.

For those who did not know him, Byron was an institution and the face of Blackheath Morris. Even when people were on holiday abroad if people mentioned Blackheath Byron's name would come up.

He will be much missed as one of life's great characters
