Ok, here we go. As I understand it many people in agricultural communities were effectivley slaves, in that they did not own land but worked for rich landowners and had no real choice.

Is this called vassal slavery? It was common before the industrial revolution in Europe. All that stuff around the Diggers wanting land to use communially was clearly a challenge to landowners. This kind of slavery was common in Africa and African landowners sold Africal slaves to europeans.

The Industrialisation of slavery through which millions and millions of African people were taken to the Americas was, as I understand it, owned and controlled largely by Europeans.

In the end it stopped and that was good. During the American Civil War Cotton Workers in Manchester refused to handle cotton from the South, in support of the North, which is something working people of Manchester are still proud.

Surely, we cannot denigh that triangular trade was massive, made England rich, Africa poor and was all round a bad thing?

Busbitter, irony I guess, but a valid point.

When the history and context of a song (the Nazi Horse Vessel song, which I clearly cannot spell, or that black faced minstrell stuff sung by white folks) overshadow the music it's a bit hard to enjoy the music
