THis is silly.

The point of the expression is not that you cannot compare them, but that you can't derive mneaningful conclusions if you are comparing the attributes of things which are entirely different in their natures. For example, comparing the length of noses between Little Hawk and his dachsund will not tell you much because they are different species. You can still measure them, but so what?
