Last night - it's pledge week- they reran the Johnny Cash special. No problem there. It was quite seriously out of date- Waylon Jennings was frequently shown discussing the 'current' Johnny Cash - (How long has Waylon been gone?) but other performers' views on him and his career were interesting, even moving.

But there was one serious error- I don't understand why Leonard Cohen has not stopped the show from being aired. Right after a number of people, from Rodney Crowell and Merle Haggard to Jack Clement, discuss Johnny Cash's superlative songwriting abilities, they have Johnny singing 'Bird on a Wire'. The inference that he had written the song was clear. Cohen was never mentioned.
